A free countdown widget for your site
One line of HTML puts a live countdown to the end of the current presidential term on any page. No script, no cookies, no account, no cost.
The snippet
The second line is the credit. Keep it if you can — it is the only part a search engine can see, and it is the whole payment for the widget. Drop it if your layout has no room; the clock works either way.
Where it works
Anywhere that accepts an iframe. Tested on:
- WordPress
- Ghost
- Squarespace
- Wix
- Notion
- Webflow
- Blogger
- Plain HTML
Email newsletters are the exception. No mail client runs an iframe, so an embed will not render in Substack, beehiiv, Mailchimp or ConvertKit. In an email, a plain text link works better anyway.
What it does, and what it does not do
- No script tag. One iframe, nothing injected into your page.
- No cookies, no tracking, no analytics. Nothing is collected from your readers.
- No maintenance. The date is fixed by the Twentieth Amendment, and the clock reads the visitor's own device. It cannot go stale and there is nothing to renew.
- No cost, ever. There is no paid tier to upgrade to.
